BBC star taken off air following ‘serious allegation’ of paying teenager for sexual pictures and videos – Times of India

A star BBC presenter – said to be a household name – has been taken off air whilst the BBC investigates allegations from the child’s mother that the presenter paid the teenager £35,000 to be sent explicit photos and videos of the teenager. The BBC was previously engulfed in the Jimmy Saville scandal.
Labour’s shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves said the BBC should suspend the presenter in question, describing the allegations as “deeply concerning”. She told the Sophy Ridge on Sunday show on Sky News that the investigations into presenters must be “much swifter” and standards under which presenters operate must be “much higher”.
Victoria Atkins, the financial secretary to the Treasury, said the BBC needs to clarify what it is doing to investigate the allegations against the presenter.
She told Sky News: “These are very very serious allegations and the BBC have said that they have processes in place but I think as public attention and concern grows, the BBC is going to have to act very swiftly to deal with these allegations and to set out what they are doing to investigate.
